Associate Scientist – Molecular Biology
T-Cypher Bio is an early-stage, innovative biotechnology company aiming to unlock an expansive target space to build a pipeline of novel, T-cell receptor (TCR)-based therapeutics.
What you will do
We are seeking a highly motivated Molecular Biologist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting experiments related to building our TCR-therapeutic pipeline. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of molecular biology techniques, hands-on experience executing experiments, and be familiar with standard molecular biology software and databases.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute molecular biology experiments, including DNA/RNA isolation, cloning, PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, and next-generation sequencing
- Design and delivery of expression constructs to cells
- Engineering of cell lines for platform development
- Participate in group and project meetings, offering insights and expertise on technical elements to advance research projects
- Analyse and record experimental results and communicate findings to the team and to management
- Maintain and implement good laboratory practices, including accurate laboratory notebook systems, instrument and reagent maintenance, and personnel safety precautions
To be successful you will need
- BSc in molecular biology, biochemistry, molecular immunology, or a related discipline with relevant experience within industry or academia post BSc.
- Experience with a wide range of molecular biology techniques, such as PCR, qPCR, restriction digests, ligations, assembly methods (e.g. Gibson), mRNA production, and agarose gel electrophoresis
- Experience with DNA sequence analysis and construct design using in silico software tools (e.g. Snapgene)
- Experience with DNA extraction methods, including mini, midi and maxiprep scale
- Experience culturing E coli
- Experience with genome editing technologies such as CRISPR-based methods, base-editing, deletions, knock-ins and gene silencing is desirable.
- Familiarity with preparation of samples for Next Generation sequencing methods e.g. Illumina MiSeq
- Desire to own and lead research projects whilst functioning as part of a wider research team
- Ability to adapt to multiple roles in an evolving company
- Enjoy working towards challenging goals in a fast-moving environment
- Ability to follow and write protocols and SOPs
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a laboratory environment
- Strong organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal)
Desirable:
- Experience in cell therapy
- Experience working with peptide:HLA molecules
- T cell and Immunology knowledge
- Experience in Next generation sequencing
