The Department / Team
Dentons Real Estate Litigation team is British Legal Awards Property Team of the Year 2020 and Legal Business Awards Commercial Litigation Team of the Year 2020.
The team specialises in complex and exciting high-end commercial and residential Real Estate litigation. Its clients include national portfolio holding entities, investors, developers, home-builders, government departments and insurers. Our clients are household and industry names. Together we want to further grow and develop this base.
The team has grown considerably in recent years and as well as having expertise across PQE levels, it also has strength across various specialisms.
We are looking for someone to join our team who is keen to provide first-rate client service, be part of a diverse collegiate environment and who wants to develop their career and our business at Dentons.
The Role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a newly or recently qualified lawyer to join our talented Legal 500 and Chamber & Partners rated Property Litigation team in Milton Keynes.
This thriving, progressive and busy practice is run by two partners. Bryan Johnston is described by Legal 500 as being ‘sensible and pragmatic with excellent client handling skills’ and ‘runs an excellent team of property litigators'. David Payton is 'a pleasure to work with’.
The role spans across all contentious aspects of property related litigation for both commercial and bespoke residential and mixed-use clients.
Recently we had a huge Supreme Court victory acting for Sainsbury's and the Co-operative Group in respect of a multi-million business rates matter. We also have been heavily involved in development contract and sale agreement disputes. Our focus on retail work has provided strategic and contentious advice and guidance to clients dealing with the ramifications arising from CV19 restrictions. We are advising extensively on Communications Code issues and also on cladding issues arising out of Grenfell.
More typical work includes managing significant landlord and tenant portfolios and all the landlord and tenant issues arising, such as covenant disputes, alienation, forfeiture, dilapidations and rent review. We have a healthy development practice and are expert in rights of light, party wall and neighbourly issues in general. We also deal with restrictive covenant and easement disputes.
The candidate will join, learn and be mentored by an 'outstanding' team of lawyers that has 'a solid knowledge base' and fields an exemplary and enviable portfolio of clients.
The role would be ideal for a 1-4 year PQE lawyer, however we would consider suitable candidates above and below this level of PQE. This position offers a wide and varied workload coupled with exciting career prospects and market-leading training and development.
