The University of Southampton seeks to appoint an Associate Professor in Media (ERE), on a full-time permanent basis, to lead our new BA Film, TV and Digital Media. This new programme will sit within Southampton’s high-ranking Film department and will expand our provision in new and exciting directions. Students will have the chance to develop practical skills alongside critical thinking while studying digital media in its historical and political contexts and that of wider screen studies. We are based within the School of Humanities in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and have close interdisciplinary links with other members of the School and the wider University. The successful candidate will have expertise in digital media, experience in curriculum leadership and development, and be able to teach modules in digital media histories and politics (some familiarity of film studies and television studies may be an advantage). You will be enthusiastic and flexible in contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, have an excellent track record in research and be keen to develop new research projects with the ability to secure grant income. Qualified applicants undertaking practice-based research or with media industry experience may apply. Most importantly, we are looking for someone keen to participate fully in the intellectual and academic activities of a lively and committed department which prizes collegiality very highly.
