Job description
Permanent position, 1.0 FTE.
We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons why it is not possible to do so.
CEDAR is a research-only department in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Warwick and has been an internationally leading research centre for 35 years. To support the next phase of CEDAR’s development, especially collaboration with the NHS, we are seeking to appoint a full time Assistant/Associate Professor in Child Neurodevelopmental Psychology to work jointly within the NHS and within CEDAR.
CEDAR’s main focus is in the general field of neurodevelopmental disorders (especially intellectual disability and/or autism) across the lifespan, as well as youth mental health. Our research has an applied focus, and so we are also very active in working in partnership with people with disabilities, families, and statutory and third sector organisations to increase the impact of research on policy and practice.
Current and recent research funding has come from the National Institute for Health Research, government departments (including the Department for Education), and charities. CEDAR has a PhD programme, established in 2014, with a doctoral student body of approximately 20 full and part-time PhD students.
The new post will complement and extend CEDAR’s current research and impact portfolio and support the further diversification of research and impact funding sources. This is a rare opportunity for a psychologist to join a research-focused department in one of the world’s leading research-intensive Universities. The post will be a joint appointment with Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust working within the Neurodevelopmental Service. The appointee will work clinically in the NHS for four sessions (.40fte) with the remainder of time contributing to CEDAR’s growth and development, focusing on their own research in collaboration with CEDAR colleagues and national and international partners, and potentially to make a contribution to postgraduate teaching closely aligned to CEDAR’s research strengths.
Informal enquiries to Professor Peter Langdon ([email protected]), or Head of CEDAR Professor Richard Hastings ([email protected])
