Applications are invited for the post of Associate Practitioner to work within the Microbiology Laboratory at The Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
The successful applicant will perform a range of Healthcare science activities including undertaking standard biomedical investigations (tests) and non-routine tests on a range of body fluids and tissues under the supervision of an HCPC registered practitioner. They will maintain clinical records, entering patient and result data from their own investigations and others onto the laboratory computer system.

The Microbiology laboratory is well-equipped, fully computerised, holds UKAS accreditation and is approved for training. We currently offer diagnostic microbiology to The Royal Bournemouth Hospital and general practice. The laboratory routinely handles in excess of 150,000 specimens per year and alongside this is supporting COVID testing.
Applicants are expected to be qualified to, a minimum of, 2 Science 'A' Levels to include Biology or Chemistry, or NVQ Level 3 (Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities or equivalent), or Access to Higher Education (Science). Previous biomedical laboratory experience is desirable.
Working hours are 37.5 per week, which includes participation in a weekend and bank holiday rotas.
