Your role:
We are looking for someone to join our Corporate Support department as Associate Partner Sustainability to fill a temporary vacancy covering maternity leave. The role will support the delivery of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority Sustainability Strategy, associated policies and programmes. Specifically, the successful candidate will have responsibility for maintaining the Environmental Management System and delivery of key sustainability projects related to the Sustainability Strategy. Crucially, you will play a key role in ensuring the Service continues to lead the way in reducing environmental impacts and mitigating climate change.
About you:
Education and Qualifications we need you to hold:
Essential
· Educated to Degree level in Environmental Science of related discipline or equivalent experience
· Evidence of continuous professional development
Desirable
· Membership of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA)
· NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent
Knowledge and Experience we need you to have:
Essential
· Specialist knowledge and understanding of issues, concepts and principles relating to sustainability and the environment
· Knowledge of environmental management systems, energy efficiency and carbon footprinting
· Up to date knowledge of British and European legislation, statutory requirements and good practice
· Previous experience in collating data and manipulating/interpreting data to form sound and well evidence conclusions
· Experience in delivering sustainability related projects in areas such as, but not limited to, carbon reduction, waste management and sustainable travel
· Post qualification experience in a similar role
Desirable
· Experience of working to a recognised standard for environmental management, such as ISO 14001 or BS8555
· Knowledge and experience of environmental audit and investigation techniques
· A keen and demonstrable personal interest in environmental issues
· Proven ability to stimulate behavioural change in others through environmental campaigns and initiatives
