We have an exciting opportunity for Associate Operations Manager within the Centre for Medical Imaging (CMI) The CMI is a multidisciplinary team of researchers within the Department of Imaging and the Division of Medicine at University College London. The team is comprised of clinicians within University College London Hospital (UCLH), scientists with honorary contracts providing access to UCLH clinical imaging facilities, professional service staff, a trials unit based within UCL and another within UCH which is patient facing, statisticians and technicians. Research at CMI ranges from mathematical image reconstruction, new sequence development, first in human, diagnostic studies and a number of multicentre trials all the way to leading pragmatic multi-centre trials of emerging and established imaging techniques that may ultimately change clinical practice.
About the role
The Associate Operations Manager will be responsible for deputising for the Director of Operations and managing the day-to-day running of all operational aspects of the CMI. This role involves supporting financial delivery, project and operational management. Within finance the postholder will work with our contracts manager to ensure invoices are sent out regularly and tracked, complete work-tribe applications (the UCL costing tool), put together NHS costs and assists in grant writing for new studies and extensions, complete periodical financial reports for funders, investigators, and other bodies. The post will also support the director of operations to provide the team with the day-to-day operations and project management and will also support appointment of staff and renewal of contracts. The position of Associate Operations Manager offers the successful candidate the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills, office administration, diary management, project, trial, contracts and budget management. Report writing, human resources, data protection, governance and health and safety will also be aspects the associate operations manager will manage with supervision. The successful candidate will become a member of a busy, vibrant, diverse team, with the opportunity to learn and develop a varied skill set within a university setting. This role will include financial and budgetary planning and management, Project Management, some Human Resources support, diary management, some general day to day running of the department Ex-offico this role serves as the CMI Health & Safety and fire evacuation officer. About you
You will be required to be 100% office based. This role will suit a keen, individual who enjoys working on a number of different projects at the same time, thinks creatively, works in an agile and flexible manner. The role requires you to be good with figures and to have an attention for detail, without losing sight of the big picture. You will need to be able to work well on your own and not be afraid to ask questions. This role will provide the training to progress to a more senior role either as a project manager or an operations manager, be it within a university setting or in industry.
