The Opportunity
Within this context, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a chartered Associate Energy Engineer within our Property, Science and Industry practice. Leading a team of like-minded Energy Engineers from diverse backgrounds to assist our blue chip clients with their transmission to net zero carbon within their buildings and manufacturing processes. The role involves leading and assisting with the design of energy generation and distribution systems through all stages of a project from energy strategy and feasibility through to site completion, including a selection of prime movers, plant sizing etc. Starting with the Energy Strategy for a site will give you the opportunity to provide our client with a clear route to net zero carbon. You would work with medium to large scale energy systems, such as steam or hot water boilers, heat distribution networks, controls, plant rooms, thermal storage & fuel storage etc. and integrate energy generation into building developments.
Is this role right for you?
You will be responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams in Energy Engineering projects and leading the interface with the client, project team and other stakeholders. You will be surveying and evaluating existing buildings and energy systems and assisting with the production of drawings and specifications, including leading the comfort and thermal analysis of buildings and spaces. As an. Associate Energy Engineer you will also be responsible for producing high quality winning proposals to assist in winning work for the team. You will also assist with the design and delivery of on-site electricity generation and distribution systems, including a selection of prime movers and plant sizing.
- Be Degree qualified in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or Energy Engineering, ideally to Masters level;
- Have experience in leading and assisting with the design of energy generation and distribution systems through all stages of a project from energy strategy and feasibility through to site completion;
- Have a proven understanding of: building integrated and utility scale renewables; building energy performance and efficiency standards; regulatory drivers of energy and carbon efficiency;
- Be familiar with and capable to undertake design of energy centres, distribution systems including hot water, steam and chilled water;
- Have knowledge of IES and/or TAS energy modelling.
