Job Introduction
We are looking for an exceptional Associate - Economic Transformation to join our team. The successful candidate would start immediately, based in South & Eastern Europe. The candidate will report to the Senior Manager overseeing TBI’s Advisory Work in country and work closely with the TBI team embedded at high levels of Government
The ideal candidate will have a background in economics and development, extensive experience and expertise across technology and government advisory, and will have previously worked on successful projects transforming economic sectors and improving socio-economic welfare in developing countries. The scope of work will cover the wider government agenda on economic competitiveness and growth.
The incumbent will work with the Government, relevant agencies, and the in-country TBI team to design as part of our partnership with the government.

Key Responsibilities
The Associate - Economic Transformation will support the design and implementation of our partner country’s economic strategy and action plan. The specific responsibilities will be agreed with the relevant Senior Manager and include, but are not limited to:
Overall responsibilities of the Associate:
- Conduct research on selected topics as requested by Senior Manager
- Undertake projects/studies as required, including policy & regulatory analysis, sectoral & industry analysis
- Facilitate Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) activities and reporting in our partner country, liaising with key Government agencies.
Detailed essential duties:
- Support Senior Managers and Senior Advisors in the delivery of workstream objectives
- Identify and structure problems, develop and apply appropriate analytical frameworks and approaches, and synthesize critical hypothesis
- Identify and acquire relevant research and data, and perform quality control to ensure validity and accuracy of data
- Proactively identify risks and issues affecting task or work stream delivery, and promptly communicate upward with solution options
- Support completion of high-quality written documents and/or presentations, utilizing various presentation tools, i.e., Power Point, Excel, Word, etc.
- Support the Country Director and other team members with monitoring, knowledge management, strategy and reporting
- Plan, prioritise and manage your time and deliverables
The Associate will support structured intervention packages; assessing target country’s competitiveness in sectors of focus; facilitating negotiations; supporting counterparts to coordinate stakeholders in government, development partners and the private sector; advising on policy and delivery; among others.
Person Specification
We are looking for promising individuals with a thirst for learning and a drive to support government to deliver. We seek to create multi-disciplinary teams and are looking for individuals who are keen to develop their own skills and careers in a fast pace, motivating, multi-cultural environment.
You will have the following skills and experience:
- Outstanding record of academic achievement, with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a preferred area of study: Economics, Statistics, ICT, Business, Finance and Engineering
- At least 2-3 years of work experience following undergraduate degree to be considered for Associate level
- Experience working in private sector development, financial institutions, economic development, industrialisation, investment promotion or related areas is preferred
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and data gathering skills
- Excellent writing, presentation and verbal communication skills, including advanced use of the Microsoft Suite
- Ability to work with supervision on multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively with people at all levels, with an emphasis on high- performance, results and accountability
- Proven willingness to learn, and ability to be a real team player
