About the Role:

Reporting to the VP of Library Solutions Marketing leading the Global Core Field Marketing strategy, the SMM/Associate Director will be the lead in driving all marketing strategies and programs for the Global Core customer segment to achieve the business objectives.

The SMM/Associate Director will have good understanding of scientific publishing or related industry, a strong digital marketing background with experience in collaborating across sales and marketing teams to achieve the business goals. They will work closely with cross functional teams, especially the Core sales team, to drive retention and new business in this sector. This will be a global role. They will work independently and are accountable for creating and influencing sales opportunities through marketing campaigns to drive new business, cross-sell, and up-sell. They will build the strategy, framework, and plan for the core customer segment.

How you will make an impact:

Marketing Strategy

  • Own the overall marketing strategy and plan for the global core customer segment
  • Sales target and pipeline analysis for marketing program strategy
  • Adapt strategies to achieve global objectives
  • Collaborate closely with the Strategic field team and marketing engagement team to plan and streamline marketing effort and programs.
  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate the marketing functions against key metrics.
  • Achieves ROI goals for marketing investment and tracks new opportunities and customers and the contribution of these to the bottom line for the business.
  • Partner across the sales organization to align on goals and strategies.

Field and Digital Marketing

  • Lead the strategy, design and execute programs for retention and new business.
  • Streamline the marketing efforts across the global and create a strategic field plan.
  • Define strategies to inform campaign execution including campaign objectives, segmentation, channel plan and campaign assets creation (content, email templates, landing pages, banners, social media posts etc.).
  • Set targets and track KPIs to ensure the marketing programs are impacting the business and sales goals.

Marketing Leadership

  • Collaborate with sales, product marketing, strategic global programs, marketing engagement and insights to develop go-to market-strategies from lead generation thru sales closing.
  • Participate in the development of the annual budget and adhere to departmental expense budget.
  • Contribute as part of the institutional marketing leadership team.

Cross-functional collaboration

  • Partner with sales, global enterprise marketing, Strategic field teams, product marketing, marketing engagement and insights to ensure goals are aligned and your team is creating programs that align to share goals.

  • Excellent analytical and project management skills
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 10 years of digital and field marketing experience preferably in scientific publishing or related industry.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Experience in creating marketing strategies and leading teams.
  • Experience in working cross-functionally, especially with sales teams
  • Experience in using Salesforce and marketing automation system (e.g., Eloqua, Marketo or Pardot)
  • Knowledge in paid social, SEO/SEM
  • Independent and accountable
  • Driven, analytical, collaborative, and confident
  • Comfortable in engaging with colleagues, especially in sales, product and marketing, and customers locally and internationally
  • Self-motivated and can work as an individual and in teams
  • Good writing and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong project and time management is a must
