AECOM’s Sustainable Development Group are leaders in the field of Decentralised Energy, including District Heating, District Cooling, Renewables and energy storage.
The team specialises in low carbon sustainable energy network design, from initial opportunity identification, feasibility, business case development and design to commercialisation, procurement support, construction support and post construction monitoring. We have a significant number of projects across UK&I and globally within the Middle East and Europe. We also heavily support UK government in the delivery of a variety of schemes, including being technical advisors on both the HNIP and GHNF grant schemes.
We specialise in the decarbonisation of buildings and places and are looking to grow our team. We are looking for someone with an excellent grasp of the UK energy market, and how buildings, estates, towns and cities can be decarbonized. The Greater Manchester Combined Authority is one of our key clients and have hugely aspirational targets around decarbonisation and Decentralised Energy. We are looking for a driven and client focused Decarbonisation and Decentralised Energy professional to lead and grow a team based in our Manchester office. With a significant amount of work for GMCA we are looking for someone to take on board our existing excellent client relationship and develop it to the next level.
The role offers an excellent opportunity for career progression for a candidate showing passion, technical ability and leadership skills.
Job Duties
- Build upon and grow our Manchester based Decentralised Energy and Decarbonisation team
- Act as the point person for our excellent relationship with GMCA
- Help GMCA deliver on their climate objectives.
Examples of the Skills Sought
- Excellent client facing skills
- A good understanding of the UK energy market
- Knowledge of the Heat Networks
- Knowledge of renewables (PV etc)and low carbon heating technologies
- Knowledge of energy storage, EV and Micro grids
- Knowledge of building services, their design and operational requirements including controls and utilities and commissioning
Minimum Requirements
- Track record of project delivery from concept stage through to operation
- Track record of managing teams
Preferred Qualifications
- MEng / BEng in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred
- CEng status would be beneficial
