We currently have an opportunity for an Associate to work within HSBC’s Corporate Broking team to assist in the origination of corporate broking mandates and the execution of ‘event-driven’ corporate transactions working closely alongside HSBC’s investment banking product teams.

Requirements

  • Supporting corporate broking coverage and advisory focussed on UK plc clients and targets
  • Client Materials: Assisting in the preparation of pitches, presentations and other materials for clients
  • Financial Analysis: Developing valuation techniques and financial modelling capabilities
  • Transaction Execution: Interacting with clients and various levels of management, and acting as an integral part of the transaction/coverage team
  • Sector/market knowledge: Keeping up to date with the markets and sector developments, understanding peer developments and providing updates and insight to clients
  • To work co-operatively with product and sector teams
  • Supervising, training and reviewing the work of interns and graduates

Previous skills and experience

  • A generalist UK Investment Banking/UK Corporate Finance/UK Corporate broking background
  • Understanding of UK quoted company situations, including knowledge of the Listing Rules, Prospectus Rules, Disclosure and Transparency Rules, MAR and the Takeover Code
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • ECM / M&A transactional experience preferable
  • Experience with common databases (such as Bloomberg, Factset, Factiva, Datastream, etc)
  • Knowledge of financial modelling, valuation, and execution
  • A strong understanding of the equity markets/buy-side investor base
  • Demonstrate capacity to build a network of contacts, both internal and external, in the context of interactions with colleagues and clients
