We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Associate, Climate Transition
HSBC announced its ambition to become a net zero bank in October 2020, including an aim to align its financed emissions to net zero by 2050, and to provide between $750 billion and $1 trillion in sustainable finance and investments over the next 10 years.
The role holder will support the development of analyses and insights to inform management decision making related to HSBC’s ambition to align its financed emissions globally to net-zero outcomes by 2050.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Using climate and sustainability knowledge to provide inputs to the projects to which they are assigned
- Working collaboratively to identify solutions to climate and sustainability challenges for the bank
- Creation of materials and documentation to support various initiatives, such as sustainable Finance, benchmarking, transition plans and policies
- Perform detailed analysis of different types of data sources to support the creation of proposals to project requirements within the internal and external business e.g., Transition plans
- Delivery of reports and presentations to support decision making
- Assisting in the implementation of agreed-upon solutions
- Performing qualitative and/or quantitative analysis to support project implementation
- Managing project work until successful completion
Essential Requirements:
- Some understanding of the Global Sustainability function or similar external experience. Good understanding of the field of sustainability and climate change, with a preference for experience in sustainable finance and/or the financial services industry
- Exposure to supporting on and delivering sustainability-related projects or working in a sustainability role
- Good project management and time management skills, with the ability to be highly organised
- Solid written and oral presentation skills, including experience of writing reports, papers and slide deck presentations
- Ability to use initiative to overcome challenges and solve problems
Desired Skills:
- A demonstrable academic subject matter specialism/ expertise either within the Sustainability, Environment or Climate Change field.
- Experience of working in financial services or banking is desired, but not essential.
- Ability to manage multiple ongoing assignments simultaneously, working as part of a team and on own initiative, to produce structured, concise, and meaningful reports
Location for this role is London with hybrid working
