We are currently recruiting for our Financial Services Disputes and Investigations team in Manchester, at Associate level. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic, fast growing, and supportive team. The range and quality of the work we do is exceptional. Our team advises on a variety of contentious matters – including high value and complex banking litigation, professional negligence claims, investment banking litigation, international disputes, regulatory, fraud, trade finance, and receivership instructions. We defend reputationally sensitive claims and undertake specialist projects with our clients to help to prevent claims against them in the future.
We have a strong and diverse client base which includes the UK's major clearing banks, building societies, private and wealth banks, digital banks, international banks, payment service providers and fixed charge receivers.

Your Role
You will work with a range of financial services clients, supporting them on their contentious caseloads and providing strategic advice on issues they encounter. Examples of the type of work you will gain exposure to include:
- Pre-action strategic remedial activity
- Disputes handling (including pre action disputes, litigated disputes and disputes before quasi-judicial forums)
- Mediations and all forms of ADR
- Claims management company (CMC) defence work
- Portfolio management
- Advice on risk management and mitigation
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Running a significant and varied contentious caseload for key financial services clients
- Providing competent strategic and commercial legal advice upon a range of contentious disputes and claims under supervision of more senior members of the team
- Delivering excellent client service informed by a knowledge of clients’ businesses, key drivers and requirements
- Responsibility for own financial management, meeting financial targets and billing
- Participating in business development activities with clients and potential clients
- Assisting with production of legal updates and knowhow development
Your Skills and Experience
You will be/have:
- A Qualified Solicitor (SRA or Law Society Registered). This role would ideally suit an NQ-5PQE Solicitor, however applicants with a greater PQE will also be considered.
- Ideally your litigation experience will have been gained within the financial services sector, however we are also keen to see applications from those with a broader commercial litigation, property litigation or insurance litigation background. This litigation experience can be as qualifying experience on your SQE, a seat on our training contract or as post-qualification experience.
- A forward thinker, with excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills, you will be self-motivated with the ability to manage workloads and deadlines.
- Commercially aware with enthusiasm for business development, and an appetite for keeping up-to-date with the latest developments in your practice area and the financial services sector.
- An understanding of your client’s business needs, and act in the best interest of the firm and the client.
- An ambitious and enthusiastic team player, able to support senior fee earners and contribute to our collaborative culture. Interested in all areas of our nationally recognised financial services disputes and investigations practice.
Your Team
TLT has one of the largest dedicated Financial Services Disputes practices in the UK, with partner led teams in all jurisdictions. We act for a range of financial institutions including large UK banks, international banks, challenger banks and fintechs, giving commercial and practical advice to resolve disputes.
We advise across the whole spectrum of contentious issues associated with commercial, business and consumer finance, including dispute resolution, pre-litigation management and Alternative Dispute Resolution.
