Hours per week: Freelance contract (per assessment)

Salary/Fee: Competitive rate

Location: Home-based. Occasional travel to AIM HQ in Derby may be required.


AIM supports the growth in the end-point assessment (EPA) of apprenticeship standards, delivery of high-quality EPA, and working in partnership with major employers across sectors. We are currently focusing our work on the creative and cultural industries. The role: AIM Associate Assessment Developer

'Assessment with integrity' is the tagline for AIM assessment. Integrity can be defined as 'someone's high artistic standards or standards of doing their job, and that person's determination not to lower those standards.' End-point assessment developers are industry experts within their field, therefore we are looking for people who can apply their skills and experience to developing our assessments.


Associate assessment developers use their expertise to develop and review assessment tasks, mark sheets and other assessment materials to ensure that they are valid, reliable, appropriate and occupationally relevant. To ensure that our assessment materials are up to date, assessment developers must ensure their occupational competence and knowledge are up to date in the industry/occupation linked to the standard that they develop.


As an associate assessment developer working with AIM you will:

  • Involve employers in assessment design
  • Test and review our assessments before use
  • Develop our networks with industry and education
  • Consistently refine our approach, learning from experience


Minimum requirements


Associate assessment developers must:

  • Have recent, relevant occupational experience within the relevant occupation linked to the standard they develop (at least two years experience in the last five years)


The following experience/skills are desirable but not essential for this role:

  • Holding or working towards and assessor qualification, e.g. award in undertaking end point assessment
  • Experience of working within the education sector
  • Having experience of assessment


Successful developers will be required to participate in standardisation and training activities.
