Our focused growth objectives are underpinned by a relentless focus on developing KPMG’s Corporate Tax business within the Private Enterprise market and our East Midlands team plays a key role in achieving those growth objectives. The department is a rapidly expanding part of our broader Tax practice with a diverse client base primarily focusing on PE-backed, owner managed and family businesses but also exposure to including UK listed and multinational groups.
Working in our successful East Midlands Tax department will not only give you the opportunity to develop longstanding relationships with your clients but also provide access to a broad range of interesting and challenging projects (including M&A, refinancing and restructurings) that will enhance both your technical and practical experience.
Whilst this is primarily a corporate tax role, the nature of our OMB and PE backed client base necessitates the development of a broader understanding of entrepreneurial tax issues which means the role brings with it a lot of breadth and opportunity for personal growth. You will also enjoy scope to develop your internal networks, for example in working alongside our dedicated tax specialists (including transfer pricing, VAT, employment and stamp taxes) as well as our central compliance service team in facilitating the delivery of the annual tax cycle.
Overview
We are actively seeking a talented individual at Assistant Manager level to form part of our East Midlands CTAC team to support and enhance our continued rapid growth. The proposed role will be based out of our Nottingham office and will benefit from a hybrid working arrangement.

Role and Responsibilities
Working as a key member of the team to provide UK Tax Advisory services to support our clients in achieving their commercial objectives.
- Being the principal point of contact with smaller clients on day-to-day tax matters and working with support from the Senior Management group with respect to larger clients with additional complexities.
- Involvement on tax advisory and planning work including due diligence, refinancing, corporate reorganisations and tax structuring advice
- Ensuring that clients are kept up to date with emerging corporate and wider tax developments impacting their business
- Working with tax specialists (and occasionally overseas offices) to provide a co-ordinated service and to deliver expertise to our clients.
- Responding appropriately to requests from clients for other KPMG services. Developing and maintaining relationships with clients in order to create opportunities to help with the provision of tax and other services.
- Managing the tax compliance cycle (delivered by our dedicated central tax service team)
- Supervising the work of junior members of staff, coaching and developing junior staff
- Ensuring fees are raised regularly, identifying situations where overruns can be billed and assisting Managers/Senior Managers in billing for advisory work
- Support the leadership with business development and proposal opportunities
- Ensuring all risk procedures are adhered to.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Ideally CTA / CA / ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent qualification).
- Previous Corporate Tax experience with a commitment to development of technical knowledge
- Strong interpersonal skills in addition to strong oral and written communication skills
