Job description
We are looking to appoint a Catering coordinator for our award-winning Catering Team. The post holder will be required to coordinate the day-to-day operations of the college’s catering provision. As Catering Coordinator you will oversee food preparation and ensure ingredient supplies, orders and menus run smoothly.
To be considered for this role, you will have experience in coordinating a busy kitchen function including planning menus for a range of dietary requirements. You’ll also have knowledge and experience in supporting a five-star, legally compliant kitchen environment. As the team operates a service Monday to Sunday, flexibility on working hours will be key for this role.
The right person will be someone who enjoys working at a fast pace with a variety of different tasks, who is self-managed with a strong work ethic, who has a positive outlook and a ‘can do’ attitude and is a completer / finisher.
Main responsibilities:
- Working with the team, ensure all meals are provided at the right time to the right people
- Oversee food preparation and ensure food is prepared and organised for the following day
- Ensure daily tasks are completed on time, as per the daily schedule
- Print off the meal orders in a timely manner
- Ensure the student/staff meal orders are correct as per the order form
- Update the online menus for the following day, ensuring the information is correct and the ingredients are available
- Respond to emails in the Catering Team In Box
- Lead service and coordinate the team
- Lead on catering for events and special occasions
- Lead on to ensuring Kitchen policies and procedures/SFBB are followed and implemented correctly
- When the Catering Manager is absent, manage challenging situations eg complaints to a satisfactory conclusion.
- Responsible for making sure all relevant paperwork is kept up to date and to EHO, Health and Safety and Food Hygiene five-star rating requirements
- Work with the Catering Manager to compile Kitchen policies and procedures.
- Support the Catering manager to implement new catering and food initiatives,
- Ordering of food from suppliers online as required by the Catering Manager
- Lead on food waste management, stock rotation, composting and recycling
- Complete bi annual stock takes
- Ensure all team members follow the regulations on allergens and dietary requirements
- Support the Catering Manager in compiling staff rotas, flagging up where sickness and annual leave is to be covered
- To cover for team members as required and where possible
- To make sure the kitchen is left clean and tidy at all times by all team members
- Escalate any issues relating to the kitchen to the Catering Manager
- Manage the Kitchen in the absence of the Catering Manager
