Are you passionate about supporting and transforming the lives of people who are experiencing homelessness?
We are looking for an individual who is wanting to develop valuable skills and experience while playing a key role in providing support to St Mungo’s clients.
The role of the Assistant Support Workers (known internally as Duty Worker) is to jointly manage the safe day to day running of the project with other members of the team and to provide basic support and advice to clients, including leading on health and safety within the service and Client Involvement.
In this role you will be the first point of contact for clients and visitors and have the opportunity to maintain a welcoming and supportive environment within the project. Other responsibilities will include:
- Work alongside the team to provide a person centred support to residents and clients.
- Coordinating important Health and Safety checks and other administrative duties.
- Work as part of a dedicated team in the hostel/ accommodation setting to provide a high quality, positive and safe service to clients.
- Keep up to date administrative records relating to client work, housing management and health and safety.
- Work on the weekly shift rota that includes early and late shifts, sleep in’s, as well as some weekends and bank holidays.
About you:
This is a fantastic role for people looking to start and develop a career in the sector; a number of current Managers started their career as Duty Workers. You will have:
- Some experience of dealing directly with the public and/or clients or customers in a busy service environment.
- Personal experience of homelessness and/or an understanding of; and empathy with the issues faced by homeless or vulnerably housed people.
- A genuine interest in helping vulnerable people to make positive changes in their life, and the willingness to develop these valuable skills.
- Above all we are looking for inspirational, committed individuals who will be committed to our Recovery Ethos, and has a genuine desire to support people to transform their lives.
