We're constantly evolving our business around our ambition to drive sustainable growth. All motivated by our next chapter and what we can achieve together.

Group Corporate Treasury’s (GCT) 1st line control function has primary responsibility to partner with the business to ensure all material business risks are continually identified, assessed, monitored, mitigated, and reported correctly - to minimise unintended losses to the business.

This role can be performed as a job share, and will require 2 days a week in the office (London 25 Gresham St)
Job Description
The Role:
This role resides within the Operational Risk team, but will frequently involve delivery of work across the full remit of control function responsibilities – ranging from running RCSAs (Risk Control Self Assessments) to trade surveillance activity.
Risk management touches every corner of GCT, and as such the position represents a fantastic opportunity to learn and develop their knowledge of the wider GCT business and its role in the Group.
What you'll be doing...
  • Act as a risk champion and source of professional risk expertise to the business on the LBG Risk Management Framework and Group Policies – driving a positive, continuous risk and control culture across the business through embedding the 1RCSA framework.
  • Effectively partner with a wide variety of risk and control owners across the control function’s remit –facilitating risk and control self-assessments by the risk and control owners (both through hosting workshops and continuous risk management activity) and providing effective challenge to ensure robust documentation and governance.
  • Perform deep dive reviews with the business to identify the root cause of any operational risk errors, identify control failings, and agree suitable mitigation to mitigate future reoccurrence/losses.
  • Analyse complex, sometimes ambiguous, information to produce prompt and insightful analysis, recommendations and advice to influence key decisions, including Risk Committee inputs as required.
  • Coordinating local inputs to Group operational risk processes as required – e.g. Risk Appetite, Scenarios.
What we need from you..
  • Strong experience of managing operational risks and controls, including in end-to-end risk identification, assessment and mitigation.
  • Strong analytical mindset and influencing skills – experience in identifying data trends and mitigation actions. Can articulate and drive the required actions, including experience tailoring risk and control requirements/language to business processes.
  • Capable, confident and proactive in building positive stakeholder relationships across a wide range of functions – both within GCT and wider LBG – and acting as a strong point of challenge.
  • Self-starter – eager to learn, deliver independently, and operate under own initiative to anticipate, manage and resolve multiple priorities.
  • Role model in driving a collaborative culture both within own team and wider business, in line with LBG behaviours and values.
  • Inquisitive mindset and attention to detail – natural drive to dig deeper and get to the root cause of an issue.
We're dedicated to giving you opportunities and support to develop you both professionally and personally to optimise your potential! As a new colleague to the team, you’ll join us on our journey to build a 21st century bank that reflects modern Britain and craft an inclusive culture where all colleagues feel encouraged and valued. We're also passionate about diversity and equal opportunity with industry recognition across gender, ethnicity, disability, LGBTQ+ and families. And, being disability positive, reasonable adjustments can be accommodated in our Recruitment process, just let us know.
We work in hybrid ways which involves spending at least two days per week or 40% of their time at one of our office sites.
You'll also receive;
  • A competitive salary.
  • A discretionary bonus.
  • Private medical insurance.
  • Pension contributions up to a maximum of 15% of your salary.
  • Share plans.
  • 28 days paid holiday each year, plus Bank Holidays.
If you're excited by this role please apply as we'd love to hear from you.
