Position overview:
- To assist the Restaurant Manager in the smooth running of breakfast, lunch and dinner, following the company standards and procedures
- To act as the Manager in the absence of the Restaurant Manager as required and ensure that all areas operate to the required standard on a daily basis
Essential functions & physical requirements:
- To be joint responsible for the welfare of the staff morale within the restaurant
- Work with the Restaurant Manager and Director of Restaurants to manage and deliver effective training and development for all the restaurant staff to ensure that they meet their required standards and develop in their roles
- To help ensure the team perform to their best at all times, providing a memorable dining experience and ensuring the reputation restaurant and hotel
- Responsible for the overall cleanliness and organization of the restaurant at all times through regular monitoring and training
- Provide assistance in conducting formal performance reviews with all staff to ascertain their performance, training needs and inspirations and to action those areas to retain and further develop them
- Communicate well with other departments and have a strategic approach to planning the rota so as to reflect the needs of the business
- Communicate with the Front Desk to ensure consistent flow of information and that the departments are continuously updated with guest’s information and any changes
- Be responsible for the smooth running of the shift whether this entails breakfast, lunch or dinner
- Have a key focus on the service within the restaurant and ensure standards are being met at all times
- Ensure our standards and procedures throughout the restaurant are achieved and adhered to on a daily basis, ensuring outstanding guest satisfaction
- Lead by example with a ‘hands on’ approach
- Create and maintain a team environment and motivate team members to achieve their goals and targets, allowing you as a team to meet and exceed guest expectations
- Support the team in their daily responsibilities and delegate tasks as required
- Maintain high levels of communication with the kitchen team
- Ensure timely order to delivery with accuracy
- Maintain a high level of presence within the restaurant and to be confident in communication with guests to ensure that their expectations are met and exceeded
- Care for the welfare of the team and discuss areas that require attention
- Ensure all restaurant billing and cashiering is conducted as per the standards
- Attend hotel meetings when required and assist with other projects such as CSR, Your View, Your Plan and Your Voice
Qualifications & desirables:
- Previous experience within a similar role
- Diploma or degree in hospitality
- Previous experience within a five star environment and/or Michelin star restaurant
- Sound knowledge of wines
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Inspirational leader
- Team player
Job type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive salary of £35,000 + additional estate service charge + retention bonus
Location: GL55
Must have experience as Michelin star Restaurant Manager or 5 Star Hotel Restaurant Manager.
