What it's like to work here:This Peak District mansion is a popular filming location and was made famous as Pemberley in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. High above Manchester, it is a beautiful and special place and two thirds of our visitors come to enjoy the outdoors here. Lyme boasts 1,400 acres of beautiful parkland and rugged moorland, 2 herds of wild red deer, a very busy programme of events, art and exhibitions. Lyme also has extensive gardens that range from the Italianate Dutch Garden to the Vicary Gibbs tree garden, six catering outlets and two shops. Excellent local transport links means you’re able to travel here by public transport or car.
Click here for more information about this locationWhat you'll be doing:Key responsibilities include:
- Actively engaging with visitors to ensure that their visit to the park is enjoyable and create opportunities to convey key messages that will inspire visitors but also promote responsible behaviour.
- Responding to radio calls and resolving/investigating issues that arise on the estate. Examples include: Sheep/deer worrying by dogs, injured sheep/deer, first aid incidents, lost property, suspicious behaviour, abandoned vehicles.
- Reporting any serious issues via radio to the duty manager and/or the emergency services.
- Emptying bins and litter picking areas as required.
- Helping the ranger team to deliver a programme of summer engagement activities and contributing to wider property events.
- Carrying out presentation work across the property, including mowing and strimming key areas.
- Repairing park infrastructure and estate furniture as required, such as gates, fences and stiles.
- Undertaking basic livestock checks.
- Carrying out any other duties as required by the rangers and wider property teams.
- Locking gates and ensuring visitors and other members of staff have left the park safely and on time.
- Work alongside and provide support to volunteers.

Who we're looking forWe’d love to hear from you if you are:
- Able to demonstrate practical experience in land, conservation and access management to level 2 or have 6 months vocational experience
- Willing to work outside in all weathers and deliver tasks when the weather conditions aren’t ideal.
- Comfortable working in a flexible and adaptable way
- Able to work alone or under direction, and as part of a team
- Positive with an approachable attitude
- Happy and willing to learn new things
- Enjoy the work you do and happy to share this with others.
