Produce and interpret high-quality images of the body to aid the diagnosis of pathological processes and trauma.
Understand, communicate and ensure the IR(ME)R (Ionising Radiation Medical Exposure Regulations) are adhered to at all times.
Provide a high-quality professional Diagnostic Imaging Service under supervision to all patients attending the Radiology Department.
Communicate with other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive the appropriate level of care and treatment.
Provide effective input into the work of the Trust, to support the achievement of our vision and values.
A new opportunity has arisen to join our Radiology team for a 6month fixed term period. We provide a high quality diagnostic imaging service 24/7 to the Trust and are moving to a shift system which supports this service.
We pride ourselves on high quality imaging, providing it safely and efficiently.
You will have access to state of the art digital equipment and a GE PACS system. As a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner Radiographer you will be supported through a comprehensive training program, completing equipment sign off as well as gaining knowledge and understanding of department protocols while working supervised.

Undertake all radiographic procedures as specified by the Radiology Department protocol under supervision and in accordance with IR(ME)R.
Ensure high radiographic standards and to maintain the high level of patient care that currently exists.
Perform manual handling duties that include lifting and moving patients, moving trolleys and chairs, moving and lifting equipment and other items following suitable manual handling training.
Ensure all patient imaging details are recorded correctly and archived in accordance with IRR to allow diagnosis and future comparisons.
Be accountable for own professional actions and to act as a role model within the department, setting and maintaining high standards of professionalism and patient care and encouraging the development of a strong and flexible multi-disciplinary team.
Ensure that all infection controls standards are adhered to and high levels of cleanliness are maintained, including hand washing between patients and ensuring any bodily fluids are cleaned away from imaging equipment.

Technical duties:
To participate in the Radiological Quality Assurance Programme by undertaking x-ray machine checks and testing.
Ensure accurate data input into the Radiology Information System to maintain data quality.
Ensure accurate data input into the Picture Archive Communication system to maintain data quality.
Education, training, and development
The post holder MUST hold BSc Hons Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent
To assist more senior Radiographers in training the multi-disciplinary team on Radiation Protection and imaging.
To provide supervision to support staff as appropriate.
To keep abreast of new techniques and to actively participate in a programme of Continuous Professional Development.
Communication
To promote a good working relationship with staff external to the Radiology Department.
To answer the telephone in a professional caring manner.
Ensure communication is maintained within the Radiology Department between the various disciplines.
Other information
The postholder may be required to carry out other relevant duties as required.
