The Charity
St Andrew’s Healthcare is a charity providing specialist mental healthcare services. We work in partnership with a number of NHS, voluntary, educational and research organisations to deliver a range of specialist inpatient and community mental healthcare services, education and research that helps to improve the lives of people with complex mental health needs.
St Andrew’s Birmingham is a 124 bedded adult mental healthcare facility comprises of eight units that cover medium and low security for both Men and Women. Located in Stirchley, a vibrant area in South Birmingham, easily accessible by road networks and public transport.
We are very proud that our Birmingham hospital is rated ‘Good’ overall by the Care Quality Commission and ‘Outstanding’ in responsiveness. We are also part of a wider healthcare provider collaborative, REACHOUT, working in association with two other NHS Trusts in the West Midlands.
The successful applicants will join a large psychology team. Duties are varied and will assist Qualified Psychologists in psychological and behavioural assessments of patient needs, offering group and individual therapy sessions based on CBT, DBT and psycho educational models, maintaining research databases, carrying out clinical audits, delivering staff training. The psychology team plays a key role in service delivery and development, with research being a key activity with academic publications and presentations at national and international conferences.
Applicants should have a minimum of an upper second class honours degree in psychology and be eligible for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society. Applicants with either previous experience of working within a multidisciplinary team in a clinical setting or a relevant post graduate qualification are very welcome.
Applicants should be very competent in computer skills, research methods, have high levels of literacy and numeracy, and have great interpersonal and communication skills. Previous experience and interest in working with adults with autism, intellectual disability or offenders is advantageous, but not essential.
