Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for Psychology graduates to join our Kent IAPT service, to support and enhance the psychological care of clients in our service. This a new role, and you will work closely with our clinicians, outreach workers and local management team to support clients accessing our service.

We are looking for a compassionate individual, who wants to work in a positive and supportive team and whose ambition is to improve excellent client experience and access rates in our IAPT services. This is an excellent opportunity to join our IAPT service, and it will provide a wealth of opportunities for those who are interested in a career path within IAPT.

We would love to hear from you if you have an upper class honours degree in Psychology or higher and if you have an understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health difficulties or other disabilities. An ability to work from an inclusive values base which respects diversity and promotes recovery is essential for this role. We are looking for someone with the ability to work within a team and who has the skills to foster good working relationships. Strong communication skills both verbal and written along with good IT skills will be essential for this post.

Although this role is within our Kent service, as this is a home working role we invite applicants from those living outside of Kent. You will need to be willing to travel to Kent for meetings and community events as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Upper class honours degree in psychology, or higher
  • Previous experience of working with people who have experienced a common mental health problem
  • Understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health problems or other disabilities
  • Knowledge of the IAPT stepped care model and treatment interventions
  • Ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a mental health context
  • Ability to work from an inclusive values base which promotes recovery and
    respects diversity
  • Ability to use clinical supervision and personal development positively and effectively
  • Ability to work within a team and foster good working relationships
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including telephone skills

Desired Skills

  • Masters level qualification in a relevant mental health field
  • Further training in mental health practice
  • Previous IAPT experience
  • Understanding of CBT or psychological therapies
  • Experience of supporting workshops/psychoeducation groups
  • Experience of working in a mental health service
  • Ability to engage people experiencing common mental health problems
  • Ability to liaise and network with a wide range of organisations and members of the public
  • Ability to use and interpret data, such as outcome measures for audit purposes
  • Knowledge of the Good Practice Guidance on the use of self-help materials within IAPT services
