The Role

BUSS has recently enjoyed a significant period of growth, taking on new practitioners and increasing the range of service delivery. Our multi-disciplinary team is now engaged in several collaborations with NHS, Local Authority and Education partners, alongside providing services to children and young people on behalf of Local Authorities, and Schools, and private commissions on behalf of self-referring families. The BUSS® training portfolio is also growing nationally and internationally.

As a result, we are seeking an appoint an enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist with a desire to enhance their research and evaluation portfolio. This role will predominantly have a research focus, involving data collection and analysis. The post will also incorporate increasing service user input into the BUSS® programme with the assistant leading on co-design projects and developing the web page and social media presence specifically for young people.

There may be some opportunities for co-running BUSS® early years groups in local community settings and some opportunities to be involved in training. A full job description can be found here.

About you

  • An approved qualification in psychology conferring eligibility for graduate basis for registration with the British Psychological Society

  • With either a Bachelor’s degree (Class 2.1 or higher) or a Bachelor’s degree (any class) together with a higher degree
  • Experience of paid or voluntary work with children or adults in a health, care or educational setting
  • Clear, confident communicator – able to demonstrate an ability to deliver complex information in an understandable way to different audiences by demonstration, presentation and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and to seek guidance when unclear
  • Strong literacy and writing skills, with excellent accuracy and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of ethical practice in the conduct of research
  • Have a working understanding of child and adolescent development
  • Experience of using outcome measures and a commitment to using clinical outcome measures
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • The ability to use a computer competently, with a broad base of IT skills and statistical analysis packages.
  • The ability to work on your own initiative and prioritise workload

Location & Hours


  • We recently moved into our new BUSS® premises at Springfield Mill in Farsley. Currently we are looking to recruit to a 5 days per week post, (37.5 hours) standard office hours 9:00-5:30.
