Job description
Northampton Psychology Practice is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Psychologist to join our small team of Clinical Psychologists delivering high quality and individualised psychological assessment and intervention to children and adults. This is a fixed term post for 12 months.
The successful candidate will be working under the clinical supervision of an HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist to support delivery of services provided by Northampton Psychology Practice and The Autism Practice. They will play an important role in contributing to team diagnostic assessment of autism and ADHD in children and young people, including completing school observations, cognitive assessments, and contributing to team discussions. Where appropriate, there is also opportunities to complete psychological intervention appropriate to the post with children and young people under clinical supervision.
The role is an excellent opportunity to gain experience of working within the field of clinical psychology, particularly for those with an interest in working with the neurodiverse community. It is also an opportunity to experience working with in private practice and develop knowledge and skills in psychological assessment, intervention, and service development.
As an assistant psychologist, the successful candidate will receive a high level of support to develop their knowledge and skills, to include regular individual clinical supervision, team supervision and discussion, and informal support from team members, including a senior assistant psychologist. The post is based in our clinic in Northampton town centre, with access to excellent resources and a space designed to provide a safe therapeutic space for our clients and employees.
The post is based in Northampton town centre, with travel across the county as required. Hours of work are Monday – Friday between the core working hours of 8am and 6pm though there is an expectation that the post holder will make reasonable efforts to work flexibly within these core hours on their allocated working days to meet the needs of the service.
The post is subject to a DBS check, the cost of which will be covered by Northampton Psychology Practice.
