Job Summary
To provide administrative and clinical support for the Adult Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) service. The post holder will provide support for patients referred to the ASD service who are required diagnostic assessment. The post holder will meet with patients online to help them complete the pre-assessment questionnaire. The post hold will communicate with the other clinicians in the service about the patient and support the patient to move to the next stage of their assessment.
The post holder will attend team meetings as appropriate, attend weekly PUK education sessions and attend supervision sessions, and also have time to undertake clinical administration. There may also be opportunities for the post holder to assist in clinical and research related administration, conduct audits and service evaluations, collect statistics, develop audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.
The role will be home based but could be required to attend various meeting locations as and when required.
Key Working Relationships
The post holder will work as part of Psychiatry-UK (PUK) team, but will be supervised by the Executive Director of HLP-U who is also a consultant clinical psychologist and clinical lead for psychological services.
HLP-U and PUK will merge to become one company from 1st September 2023.

Description of Duties
Key Results Areas
To ensure the development and maintenance of the highest personal standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes, in consultation with the postholder’s professional and service manager(s).
To work under the joint supervision of a member of the ASD diagnostic assessment team and the HLP-U Executive Director, to support delivery of PUK and HLPU services using individual, parent and family interviews, informal observation and formal developmental, psychometric and other assessment methods as appropriate.
To utilise theory, evidence-based literature and research to support the delivery of evidence based practice in individual work and work with other team members.
To provide administrative data management support for specific projects within the service as agreed with the line manager.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1.1. To attend, contribute to and provide administrative support for appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings.
1.2. To develop a collaborative working relationship with members of PUK/HLPU where appropriate
1.3. To maintain high standards of research practice, record keeping, and report writing in accordance with the Healthcare Professions Council and the British Psychological Society’s code of conduct as well as PUK/HLPU policy.
2. Teaching, Training and Supervision
2.1. To receive supervision for all work in accordance with professional practice guidelines.
2.2. To participate in an agreed programme of training and professional development in order to develop knowledge and practice relevant to the delivery of current duties.
3. Management, Policy and Service Development
3.1. To assist in the design and implementation of service development projects within the service as required.
3.2. To contribute to the development of services through specific projects e.g. surveys of need, audits of outcome.
3.3. To facilitate evidence based service development through literature searches.
3.4. To be involved, as appropriate, in the short listing and interviewing of similar assistant psychology posts.
3.5. To participate in meetings of the service where service developments are planned and discussed.
4. Audit, Research and Service Evaluation.
4.1. In collaboration with different teams, design, develop and implement systems for recording activity and clinical outcomes of services, as required.
4.2. To take responsibility for the adaptation and maintenance of relevant databases.
4.3. To join with colleagues in producing service related reports, taking responsibility for collating relevant statistics as appropriate.
4.4. To undertake data collection, analysis, the production of reports and summaries, using IT and statistical programmes.
4.5. To work together with other assistant psychologists and service providers in the service in developing, participating in and conducting systematic evaluation of clinical outcomes and audit activities within individual projects and across the service.
4.6. To undertake searches of evidence-based literature and research to assist service providers in evidence based practice in individual work and work with other team members.
5. General
5.1. To ensure the development, maintenance and dissemination of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes.
5.2. To ensure the development and articulation of best practice within the service area and contribute across the service, taking part in regular professional supervision and appraisal and maintaining an active engagement with current developments in relevant areas of mental health and well being.
5.3. To maintain and promote the highest standards of recording and report writing and the responsible exercise of professional self governance in accordance with professional codes of practice of the British Psychological Society and Trust policies and procedures.
5.4. To be accountable for adhering to the legal requirements of the Data Protection Act.
5.5. To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and issues in relation to both the specific client group and mental health.
5.6. To participate in the collection and presentation of appropriate data in line with company requirements and clinical initiatives.
5.7. To be familiar with the use of the computer systems for client reports and correspondence and also for literature searches, research data entry and analysis.
5.8. To take professional responsibility for the use of equipment.

Person Specification
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
● BSc in Psychology or related degree
● Eligible for graduate registration with the BPS
● Strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel and PowerPoint
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Attention to detail
● Friendly, approachable and supportive
● Knowledge of office management systems and procedures
● Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
● Problem-solving skills
● Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task
Desirable Qualifications and Skills
● Graduate registration with the BPS
● Masters in a psychology related area
● Experience working in a psychiatric and/or private hospital setting
