Job description
Greater Manchester Mental Health Foundation Trust (GMMH) wishes to recruit an Assistant Psychologist to contribute to delivering the aims of the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) Strategy, specifically the Psychologically Informed Planned Environment (PIPE) in an Approved Premises (AP Hostel).
PIPEs are environments where staff members are trained to provide a more psychologically informed approach to residents. T)his is to help them work more effectively with the client group and develop understandings of how personality problems influence the risk of further offending or harm to self.
The post holder will work closely with an experienced Clinical Psychologist in the delivery of the PIPE, where some male residents have personality difficulties that increase the risk of further serious self-harm and/or violent offending.
The role will be to support PIPE staff team to ensure the environment continues to reflect PIPE principles, and support the Clinical Lead to develop & maintain processes to enhance the psychological environment for both staff and residents.
To support this process, planned components and structured activities are being developed to promote interpersonal relationships. You will play an active role in supporting the Clinical Lead and wider team in developing these activities. Whilst we hope to attract candidates with existing experience in the area of personality disorder, full training regarding PIPEs and the broader strategy will be provided.
