8 month Secondment Opportunity for Band 4 Assistant Psychologist 0.4 WTE
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 4 Assistant Psychologist 0.4 WTE to join Newham's High Intensity User service. This is a new service that aims to reduce attendance of a small cohort of patients whom frequently attend the emergency department. The primary aim of the project is to liaise across disciplines and agencies to better address the unmet psychosocial needs of vulnerable individuals who are frequently attending the ED.
The post holder will be responsible for co-ordinating, under close supervision of the Frequent Attending Senior Nurse, the collating of data around people who present frequently to the Emergency Department in A&E and ensuring that the team receive this data in a timely manner. They will support the education of the Emergency Department staff in identifying people frequently attending to A&E with both primary mental health problems and secondary mental health problems as a result of persistent physical health conditions and undetected but treatable psychological difficulty, for example, non-cardiac chest pain, MUS, breathlessness, panic and asthma. This will enable the detection and identification of people frequently attending A&E as a result of mental health, drug and alcohol and persistent physical health conditions.
