About us
Cardinal Clinic is an independent prestigious private psychiatric hospital, renowned for the quality of care provided to patients. The hospital is set in ten acres of beautiful grounds and gardens and we have been open for 47 yrs.
Overview: You will be an integral member of the MDT, providing patients in our in-patient hospital and day care service with bespoke individually formulated low intensity evidence-based treatments.
You will also be part of our group therapy team and facilitate psychoeducation groups for patients. You will have the opportunity to develop your research skills by being part of the audit and innovation committee and carrying out regular monthly audits. You will be supported by having regular weekly supervision and we encourage personal and professional development and training, enabling you to extend your skills and ensure that you excel.
Reports to: Head of Psychological Therapies
Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hrs per week (including a daily break of ¾ hr for lunch)
Responsibilities
Interventions with In-Patients
o Assess, formulate and deliver 1:1 brief intervention with inpatients.
o Write brief assessment reports and updates to relevant referring practitioners.
o Carry out Screening Questionnaires & Outcome measures where appropriate.
o Maintain clear MDT notes and feedback clearly to the nursing team any issues arising.
o Carry out risk assessments and report any relevant findings.
o Attend Monday nursing meeting, feeding back relevant clinical issues.
o Attend daily 14:00 handover, keeping appraised of patient issues and progress.
Interventions with Day-Care Patients
o Support Day Care Programme Lead with administrative needs.
o Conduct 1:1 Key work sessions with a number of Day Care Patients (ad hoc basis).
o Attend weekly Day Care Meeting at 14:30 on Thursday.
Groups:
o Run weekly psychoeducational groups
o Assist with cover for other groups when dedicated group facilitator is unavailable
Reporting:
o Attend weekly patient update, write patient updates, send to relevant Consultant/Therapist
o Report to Consultant any patient risk concerns (via email or in emergency via phone)
o Where day patients concerned, ensure the Day Programme Lead is kept informed and escalate issues as required
Audits & Innovation Committee:
o Collate data and perform statistical analysis at designated times
o Attend multi-disciplinary meetings
o Work alongside and support Clinical Psychologists on projects
o Propose innovations, process changes and system changes that may improve quality, compliance, and patient care
o Lead Quality Improvement & Innovation projects (inc. writing proposals & execution)
o Attend monthly Innovation Committee meetings
Additional Psychological Support:
o To provide additional psychological support to individual patients with complex conditions.
o Provide therapeutic support to in-patients, including assessment, formulation, and therapeutic work e.g., behavioural activation, WRAP plans, thought records.
Supervision:
o To receive supervision as directed by the Head Psychologist.
o To run and attend (where possible) Peer Supervision monthly.
o Support with onboarding psychology graduates and placement students, where appropriate
Education and Training:
o Attend In-house mandatory training, tutorials, or other training as and when required
o Follow Cardinal Clinic Policies and Procedures with regards to patient care, confidentiality, department procedures etc.

Essential
Academic: · Achieved minimum 2:1 BSc in Psychology related degree (BPS Accredited)
Experiences:
· At least one year experience in a clinical setting
· Experience facilitating psychoeducational groups sessions
· Experience delivering Low Intensity CBT interventions in individual or group settings
Skills:
· Able to demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal
· Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate well to service users, parents, professionals, and staff
· Ability to be flexible and to adapt to changing and challenging circumstances, operating calmly and effectively
· Ability to work independently, managing a variety of competing priorities within agreed timeframes, whilst utilising supervision appropriately
· Ability to show initiative and be self-motivating
· Travel to Clinic site (no option for remote working)
· Occasionally work weekends or evenings depending on Clinic needs and placement duties
Desirable
· Experience in research/audit
· Experience of administering psychometric tests
