Job Summary:
We are seeking energetic Assistant Project Managers to oversee and manage a diverse range of projects within our organization and immediately in the life sciences area working to improve government research facilities. The ideal candidate will have recently worked with project management methodologies and been involved in successfully delivering complex technical projects. They will understand construction, engineering, and the role of regulation and governance. The Assistant Project Manager will play a crucial role in supporting Senior Project Managers in delivery and ensure the efficient execution of projects across a variety of areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management Expertise:
- Assist in the delivery of projects using a recognised project management methodology.
- You will have a membership with the APM.
- You will understand RIBA and its application to construction
- You will have an understanding of the NEC 4 suite of contracts.
- Technical Knowledge:
- You will understand building construction, maintenance, and refurbishment within office or industrial spaces.
- Familiarity with process engineering concepts and an ability to collaborate with end users to develop process-based requirements.
- Risk Management:
- Update and manage risk registers and mitigating actions
- Understand principles of risk management
- Collaborate with Duty holders under CDM 2015
Qualifications and Skills:
- Working toward Chartership with an appropriate professional body.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Membership of the APM.
- Experience in managing construction or infrastructure projects.
- Understanding of RIBA-based projects, NEC 4 suite of contracts and project management methodologies.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Specific Areas of Work may include:
- Biocontainment Facilities:
- Assist with projects related to the construction, maintenance, and refurbishment of biocontainment facilities.
- Assist with the installation of specialized equipment in biocontainment facilities, including microbiological safety cabinets, autoclaves and decontamination equipment.
- Animal Science and Agriculture:
- Assist with projects involving livestock holding and agricultural facilities.
- Incinerator Projects:
- Assist with projects related to on-site incinerators.
- Physical Security and Infrastructure:
- Assist with security projects, collaborating with internal stakeholders and security services to enhance physical security measures.
- Assist and deliver infrastructure projects, including utilities, lighting, parking, and other site structures.
