Retail Banking is vital in maintaining HSBC’s position as a provider of world-class retail banking and wealth management solutions, directing business development with a focus on customers. The team works to ensure the adherence to regulation, through robust policies and clear, fair and non-misleading, concentrating on building value, treating customers fairly and creating a superb customer experience.
We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Assistant Product Analyst.
The Secured Lending team is part Retail Banking, and has responsibility for the mortgage portfolios of HSBC and First Direct, representing over £100bn in balances across the ring-fenced and non-ring-fenced bank, and which generates a significant part of UK RBWM profit. The team drives all product development, pricing, retention, communication, product management and maintains compliance with relevant regulatory and internal policy mandates across the UK bank.
Working collaboratively with colleagues across the business, the role holder is required to role model customer-centricity, driving service excellence and offering products and services that meet customer needs.
The team also has a responsibility to protect the business by adhering to regulatory and reputational responsibilities, against a backdrop of delivering consistently good outcomes for customers whilst maximising commercial opportunities and minimising risk for the bank. The role will work closely with UKT, HOST, UWS, Distribution, Credit Risk, Mortgage Operations, Legal and Compliance teams to drive change and support run the bank activities, in addition to third party partners.
In this role, you will:
- Ensuring the Mortgage product lines (HSBC, First Direct) hit their combined P&L and balance sheets financial targets, facilitated through the development of beautiful digital journeys.
- Forecast and report on key performance indicators focusing in on commercial insight driving the right business decisions at the right time.
- Serve key stakeholders by providing strategic direction and thought leadership to support them in driving revenue performance, encouraging collaboration, accountability and ownership.
- Help develop new processes which reflect a deep understanding of customer and broker need. Propose right tools/ services to help customers and brokers. Support the development of initiatives aimed at attracting and retaining more customers and brokers.
- Drive material initiatives to improve the customer experience, reduce complaints and manage Conduct Risk within mortgages, ensuring delivery on time, within budget.
- Adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.
- Support the review of mortgage policies and procedures, as well as the review and management of regulatory and mandatory mortgage documentation.
The base location for this role is Birmingham.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Highly numerical with a knowledge of data analytics and interpretation. Experience working with large data sets in Excel and presenting in an easily interpreted manor is essential
- Presentation skills both verbal and visual is essential
- Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of mortgages is desired
- Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. RBWM / Retail Banking, or external Product experience is desired
- Past working experience in a relevant role, i.e. Product Management / Financial Services / Intermediary Market / Change is desired
- Proven ability to deliver customer focused change in a way that balances commercial and regulatory considerations.
- Experience of using relevant software packages, i.e. MS Office Excel, PowerPoint, Word is essential
- Ability to influence others at all levels to deliver change and product/process improvement - is desired
- Availability to undertake the travel required for this role, i.e. Occasional travel to stakeholder sites – London / Leeds / Sheffield etc.
