GB News is looking for motivated and experienced producers who are passionate about creating informative and engaging news programmes that connect with UK audiences. As an assistant producer on early PrimeTime programming you will play an integral role in our output, ensuring we cover a range of stories that are of interest to UK viewers, including politics, economics, crime, the environment, health and cost-of-living.
You will have strong editorial judgement, bring creative flair to your work and be able to work well under the pressures of the newsroom. If you are driven and thrive in a fast-paced environment, this is the role for you as you’ll be working with big name presenters who frequently set the news agenda.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and produce high quality and creative, original daily news programmes.
- Produce stories by writing scripts, checking facts, booking guests, cutting video and commissioning graphics.
- Ensure powerful coverage of breaking and developing news, live events and big stories.
- Book compelling guests who represent a variety of views.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to cover the day’s news agenda.
- Ensure coverage adheres to the overall vision of the channel in line with our editorial standards.
- Apply Ofcom guidelines and adhere to editorial charter throughout.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong journalistic skills backed up by a relevant qualification
- Work well under pressure in a newsroom environment.
- Good knowledge of news and current affairs.
- Understanding of OFCOM guidelines and excellent editorial judgement.
- Ability to work flexibly across different news show shifts - including weekends.
- High standard of written English.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
