Avaliable Job Today Assistant News Editor
The role of the Assistant News Editor will be to research and write news articles and features about all aspects of the textile industry, its companies and technological advances, for publication on www.wtin.com and in WTiN’s international B2B journals and reports. The successful candidate will be capable of initiating ideas for articles, interviewing senior industry representatives – including on video – and producing accurate and engaging reports. As part of the News team, they will also be required to assist with daily editorial tasks, such as:
- Researching markets and building contacts to generate interesting content for both online and print media
- Engaging in social media activity to promote the company’s content and events
- Assisting Editors and Channel Leads with any copy they need producing
- Travelling to and reporting from global industry events
- Collaborate with team members to provide digital and sometimes data driven content in a variety of ways
- Assist with journals/reports and newspapers when required
Candidates must have the following:
- An English or Journalism-related degree, with a portfolio of previously published work
- Experience in writing about textiles and for B2B outlets is not essential but would be advantageous
- Candidates with a textile qualification will be considered if they can demonstrate a flair for writing
- An interest in the textile & apparel industry is a plus
- An eye for detail with and a passion for the written word
- The confidence to conduct telephone, Skype/Zoom and face-to-face interviews
- The ability to produce quick, clean and stylish copy
- Ability to work well on their own and as part of a team
- Be organised and proactive
- Must have a good news sense and ability to write timely and stylish content
- Ability to work to several deadlines at once
- Ability to work independently and in a pro-active manner
- Creativity in ideas and problem solving
- Must be a friendly, people-person with a willingness to learn
This is a hybrid position in a fast-paced environment with two days a week working from our Leeds city centre-based office. Reporting to the Head of Content.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £22,000.00-£25,000.00 per year
