We are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager to work in our Financial Services centre based in Jersey.

Our current portfolio includes a range of well-known financial services clients as well as those that we expect to become future household names. We work with leading investment managers of Private Equity, Venture Capital, Real Estate and Debt Funds and our expertise in these areas means there is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in the auditing the investment valuations. We also work with many of the leading asset servicing businesses; with these Fund Administration and Trust Company Businesses offering a great opportunity to get involved in the audits of complex multi-component groups who are dynamic and acquisitive.

Whilst we are an office of Deloitte UK, we work particularly closely with the Guernsey, IOM and Gibraltar offices as an Islands Practice, with a team of 200 people and 8 partners focusing on the offshore financial services sector

As a member of our growing team you will:

  • Report to a Manager, Senior Manager or Director/ Partner.
  • Work effectively in an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution.
  • Supervise our field teams to successfully execute audit engagements.
  • Manage client relationships day to day.
  • Mentor and coach junior members of our team.
  • Help to drive our continuous improvement in audit methodology and develop new ways of working through innovation and transformation.
  • Participate in practice management activities, including facilitation of internal training courses and staff development.
  • Engage with and support wellbeing activities with the team and the wider Portfolio function.
  • Support the development of our practice, potentially through facilitation of internal training courses or staff development.

To qualify for the role you must have:

  • Hold or be in the final stages of achieving a relevant professional qualification, e.g. ACA, ACCA, CPA, CA, ICAS or overseas equivalent.
  • Experience as an external auditor, preferably with some financial institution experience.
  • Knowledge of external or internal auditing techniques (including planning meetings, risk assessment, audit scoping, devising audit approach, controls testing, substantive testing and the communication of any findings).
  • Group audit experience is preferable but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including oral/written communication, and team management.
  • Highly motivated approach, with a proven ability to work on own initiative within a challenging work environment.
  • Good with organisation, planning and coaching skills.

Personal independence

Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints. This can mean that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm.
