Defence Consulting
KPMG's Defence Consulting team comprises over 80 team members. You will be responsible for supporting projects ranging in length from several weeks to multiple years, delivering as part of diverse teams comprised of KPMG consultants, sub-contractors and members of the client’s own staff. You will help deliver projects to agreed deadlines and budgets. We help transform the way our clients manage and deliver their services and operations. We help our clients to understand and exploit the constantly changing operational ecosystems to deliver value, agility and efficiency. In collaboration with other specialists across KPMG, we support our clients tp enable them to transform their business through technology-enabled change.We deliver collaborative team engagements, working together across the wide range of capabilities within our National Security team. We are growing our team to meet an ever-increasing demand for our market-leading services and are seeking expertise and experience to join us.
Solving client problems
You will be responsible for helping KPMG develop robust problem-solving methodologies, structuring and reviewing complex analysis, and delivering clear and effective deliverables. It is essential that you can work independently to clarify client issues and assist the development of logical and implementable solutions to those issues, which are supported by robust analysis.
Stakeholder interaction:
You will be required to regularly interact with Partners, Directors and Senior Managers within KPMG to source insight and expertise and to provide progress updates. You will also support interactions with members of the client’s leadership team. Your clients will be from the public sector or industrial manufacturing sector focusing on aerospace and defence. The ability to develop strong client relationships with clients from diverse backgrounds and at all levels of seniority, including senior leaders, will be crucial. You will effectively communicate points of view and evidence that shapes client decision making.
National Security
The National Security sector is one of KPMG’s key priority sectors, designated for high growth over the next three years. In order to deliver our exciting growth plans, KPMG are recruiting experienced, market-focused consultants to join this team. The team are seeking Assistant Managers to deliver technology-enabled change activities on National Security engagements and to support KPMG’s growth in this market.
Due to the nature of the work, it is essential for applicants to hold current 'National Security Vetting’ aligned to a National Security organisation.
The Role
- We are seeking talented individuals with experience of supporting large-scale transformation in the National Security market to deliver a number of existing and upcoming opportunities.
- You will join an established and highly successful National Security practice, with the opportunity to leverage our leading technology methodologies and continue our growth.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required
- Track record of working on complex consulting projects. This should include experience of business or operating model change; strategy development; strategic cost efficiency and management; investment decision support; or development of business cases and business plans.
- Demonstrable experience developing Business Cases.
- Effectively assimilating differing stakeholder opinions on potential courses of action.
- A good understanding of consulting problem-solving methodologies and how these can be adapted for client challenges in the Defence sector.
- A good understanding of consutling skillsets including: qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis, storyboarding, report and slide creation, impactful presenting, team management, influencing and relationship-building
- Good leadership and management skills including the ability to manage projects, understand the strategic context, prepare detailed analysis, and support the development of junior colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
As an Assistant Manager in our team, we will expect you to:
- Own specific deliverables and/or areas of projects with minimal input, delivering quality outputs and helping to review and enhance the work of less experienced members of the team.
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of engagements, including work plans, timelines, project management and resource allocations.
- Contribute to the production and presentation of client deliverables.
- Work collaboratively with client staff and management, often in joint teams, in the development and delivery of recommendations.
- Assist Managers and Senior Managers to supervise and develop less experienced team members.
- Contribute to the development of National Security case studies and proposals where required.
- Build and manage relationships with clients on a daily basis.
- Contribute to the development of propositions and assets, bringing a National Security perspective to them.
