Job description
Do you have experience of devising and carrying out canine behaviour modification and rehabilitation programmes? Have you managed and developed small teams of staff or volunteers?
We are recruiting for an Assistant Manager (Behaviour) to lead within the centre on training and behaviour activity for dogs in Dogs Trust care, focussing on initial assessment and determining the behavioural modification programmes for each dog.
Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity and normally cares for around 14,000 dogs across its network of 21 rehoming centres in the UK and one in Dublin. Dogs Trust has a non-destruction policy and will never put a healthy dog to sleep.
In this role, you will directly manage a small team but will also supervise/guide other staff in the wider operational team when implementing behaviour plans for individual dogs. In addition, you will also be the duty manager on a rota basis in the absence of the centre manager and will also cover for other Assistant Managers.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of dog behaviour and welfare, including the development of undesired behaviours and the principles behind different methods of behavioural rehabilitation, along with previous experience of working in a kennel environment, and excellent interpersonal and team management skills.
