Job description
Salary dependant upon experience but will between £28-30k per year.
This position is for 5 days out of the 7, between the hours of 9.00am-10.00pm which will include weekend working.
37.5 hours per week
Debden Grange is an age-exclusive Retirement Village in Newport, Essex. It compromises of 17 cottages & 64 apartments, grounds, and a clubhouse that includes a restaurant, bar, library, snooker room and shop.

Supporting the Village Manager (GM) in Managing both Restaurant and village operations providing direction for a variety of teams including Food & Beverage, Village Retail, Reception, Wellness, Housekeeping, Facilities and Night Management. Working in partnership with our chosen domiciliary care provider to ensure our residents safety is paramount.
Specifically you are responsible for the management of all spaces.
The job role will include:
- Direct Management of Restaurant/Café/ Coffee Bar/ Village Retail/ Hairdresser.
- Delivery of a truly professional heart felt customer service at all times, lead by example and ensure all team members deliver on this.
- Delivery of high standards of presentation across all hospitality spaces and wider village ensuring we deliver warm, comfortable clean and accessible spaces for our residents and guests to enjoy.
- Delivery of high standards on Internal housekeeping of all Hospitality spaces ensuring we are providing a safe, clean and organised working environment for our teams at all times.
- To adhere to all departmental budgets provided and assist with preparation of such budgets.
- Full adherence with all required reporting and documentation recording as required by the business and legislative standards.
- Full adherence with RVG procurement of Goods policy and ordering platforms and budgetary targets.
- Recruit and retain a diverse and positive workforce who live by our company values.
- Carry out effective development plans and monthly reviews of all team members ensuring any issues are documented and actioned, ensure staff feel supported and are provided the relevant training required to deliver against role requirements and career progression.
- Effective rota management ensuring labour ratio and budget is achieved with specific attention paid to holidays and sickness management to mitigate any potential disruption to the resident of visitor experience.
- Train, Coach and develop your teams ensuring that they deliver a truly heart felt and professional service to exceed residents and visitors experience of the RVG customer journey extending knowledge across the entire village experience.
- Ensure you and your team are fully trained and adhere to legislative requirements such as COSHH, Fire Safety, Food safety, Health & Safety, and Safeguarding of our residents and customers. This includes assisting with deep cleans within the kitchen.
- Full compliance and adherence to RVG Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ensure daily briefings and debriefs are carried out to address Hot Topics.
- Lead by example by ensuring both you and your team are clean, smart, dressed appropriately and are easily identifiable as an approachable member of the RVG Team.
- Work in collaboration with Group Food & Beverage Manager & Head chef to regularly review and change the offerings in the restaurant, ensuring continuous delivery against the RVG F&B strategy.
- Effective management of any resident or visitor insight and management of complaints ensuring timely resolution for residents and visitors in a warm, empathetic and professional manner.
- Full creation and execution ownership delivery of an Events planner ensuring we are creating events, and activities that not only create memories, opportunity to engage and make us the place to live but also to ensure our Hospitality spaces are commercially viable.
- Full event Management effectively delivered encouraging repeat business and delivery against our values.
- To drive all commerciality factors forward for an effective Hospitality operation.
- To adhere with all sustainable ways of working ensuring minimal waste and effective resources control measures.
Skill set
· Passionate about Hospitality and the Customer Journey
· F & B management experience in a high quality hospitality environment
· Ability to understand & control budgets and Manage a P&L
· Ability to deal with all employee relations issues professionally.
· Flexibility is a must
Knowledge of Health & Safety working practices
