The Opportunity
Our used car business Motor Match is expanding and our site in Stafford has a vacancy for an Assistant Manager. Motor Match sells quality used none-franchised cars.
As a Used Car Assistant Manager for Stafford Motor Match you will have ultimate responsibility for the overall performance of our multi-franchised used car business. You will be a hands on leader supporting the dealership with day-day running which will include; buying, marketing, stock-turn and gross profit.
You will be heavily involved in stock, purchasing, pricing, marketing, presentation and ensuring that our customers receive the excellent service that they have come to expect. For this role, you will need to be process driven; it is important to ensure that process across all areas of your business are adhered to which will ensure we remain FCA compliant.
Day to day, you will be on the shop floor, interacting with your colleagues and driving results with your strong leadership experience and ability to motivate. Ensuring a strong working relationship with our brand partners is key in this role.
More about the role:
- Hands on used car management; buying, marketing and presenting deals
- Ensuring customer satisfaction metrics are hit
- Working closely with group functions such as; Finance & Insurance, HR and Marketing
- Daily performance reporting
- Develop marketing plans
- People management including; performance management and recruitment
- Managing and achieving KPIs
- Execution of marketing plans/promotions
- Attend weekly sales meetings with Swansway Directors
More about you:
- It is essential that the successful candidate have previous experience of working within used cars.
- Hands-on in your approach and be able to buy stock, market and be a deal generator.
- You should be well versed with writing budgets and be able to easily interpret monthly and annual P&L accounts.
- You should be a high achiever in the motor industry.
- Entrepreneurial in nature driven by success.
- Open and honest communicator that lives the Swansway values.

Founded in 2003 by Michael Smyth and his three sons, David, Peter and John, Swansway has grown from five motor dealerships in Cheshire and the West Midlands to the 20 dealerships we have today. From Birmingham in the South to Carlisle in the North we partner with eleven brands including; Audi, Volkswagen, Land Rover, Honda and many more.
We’re expanding our own-brand, Motor Match our used sites, and we don’t stop at dealerships; we operate four Volkswagen Group Trade Part Centres, an Accident Repair Centre, a Group Fleet Sales Centre and an eBay shop re-cycling obsolete parts. All this is supported by our Head Office in Crewe.
