Our rehoming centres house thousands of dogs each year until they are able to find a loving new home and the success of our centres wouldn’t be possible without our dedicated team of staff and volunteers; there is a real family-community within each of our centres. Come rain or shine, our team are out in all weathers to make sure the dogs have the best possible life. Dealing with thousands of visitors each month, our rehoming centres are the face of Dogs Trust and we pride ourselves on our staff providing the very best in customer service.

Working within the Management team, the Assistant Manager Admin has primary responsibility for customer service, the supervision of front of house staff and volunteers, as well as managing and motivating a dedicated team and ensuring administration and records are kept up to date. This is a role which requires excellent interpersonal skills and organisation, with extensive customer service skills and the ability to work in a busy fast paced environment. You will also need be fully conversant with the duties and responsibilities of the other members of the Management team in order to cover for them during periods of absence this will include working with our dogs, for which training will be provided.

The successful candidate will have significant management experience, and although a good knowledge of dog welfare requirements and/or experience of caring for animals in a rehoming environment is useful, it is not a pre-requisite for the role as full training will be provided.

You'll have strong administrative, communication and customer care skills with a proven ability to handle difficult and sensitive situations, always working in the best interests of our dogs, customers and the organisation. You will also need a full, manual driving licence.

The Centre is in a semi-rural position and does not have nearby transport links, so access to a vehicle is essential. This role has an option to live on site in an individual staff cottage which is provided as part of the role, or to live off site. These options can be discussed further at interview stage.
