We now have an excellent opportunity for you to begin your career in Finance with an Industrial Student Placement as Assistant Management Accountant based in our Head Office at Smethwick. The placement will be a fixed term contract.
In this role you will be fully immersed in the day-to-day activities of a busy Finance department where you will begin to develop business partnering and commercial skills. This is a great opportunity to gain exposure across a number of areas within Finance on a rotational basis.
During your time with the teams you will be encouraged to think innovatively, to challenge the status quo and will have the opportunity to bring creative and practical ideas to fruition taking full responsibility for their implementation and success.
Responsibilities include;
- Assisting with the preparation of management information including weekly and monthly accounts
- Assisting with the preparation and review of presentations and cost analysis
- Assisting the Internal Control team with risk management and internal audits
- Being involved with any ad-hoc strategic projects
- Producing financial analysis and insight
Job specifics
As the successful candidate you will be able to evidence that you are on course for a minimum 2:1 classification in any degree discipline and currently in your penultimate year at university. Additionally you will be required to meet the following requirements;
Minimum Grade B GCSE Maths (or equivalents)
Minimum Grade B GCSE* English Language (or equivalents)
Minimum of 120 UCAS tariff points (Please note that we only consider a candidate's 'top' 3 A-Level grades and do not accept General Studies)
You will need to be on four-year degree programme that features a sandwich placement element, in addition to the above educational requirements, the successful candidate must, by the start of their employment, have permission to work in the UK.
What we’re looking for;
- Strong analytical skills and be able to present results in a simple and clear manner.
- Ability to self-manage workload and prioritise tasks according to deadlines, importance and urgency
- Excellent problem solving attitude with the drive to delivering results
- Ability to build rapport with the Finance team and other departments in addition to excellent communication skills
- Excellent computer literacy skills being proficient in using Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
