Upper Springlands is a 10-acre campus in Perth providing residential, respite, and day services for people with disabilities. At Upper Springlands we support up to 60 residents across 3 residential services and 1 respite service. Our residents and day attenders are also supported by our in-house team of Allied professionals to ensure their built and natural spaces are as homely, stimulating, and safe as possible. Our idyllic grounds provide a beautiful natural environment complimented by an exciting range of educational, recreational, and therapeutic activities provided by our Studio and in-house Allied Professionals. About the Role
You’ll support the residents, staff, and Facilities Manager to deliver a comfortable, safe, and stimulating environment for all. Ensure the smooth running of the facility by planned and reactive maintenance to provide the best possible standard for our buildings, services, and grounds at Upper Springlands and across the Capability Scotland Estate.
This skilled work should be carried out in line with all compliance to all safety procedures. You’ll assist with our customers move-ins and move-outs and alterations, carry out general maintenance across our Upper Springland Campus, including:
- Carry out regular inspections, including security, fire & emergency lighting systems, to identify and prevent maintenance opportunities, fixing and/or reporting faults.
- Basic electrical/re-wiring works.
- Weekly generator maintenance.
- Water treatment plant & plumbing.
- Boiler inspections and maintenance.
- Painting & decorating.
- Aid-Call - system maintenance/trouble shooting.
- Testing, draining & cleaning hydro pool.
- General building & grounds repair e.g., doors, windows, and roofs.
- Regular risk assessing and reporting.
Please note this role may require manual handling and heavy lifting.
The ideal Maintenance Officer will have:
- Excellent communications skills with a passion for helping disabled people live full and inclusive lives.
- Proven work experience of having worked within the building services or engineering sector including basic electrical, plumbing & joinery within either commercial, social care or domestic settings.
- Problem solving skills, with a strong understanding of the requirements of fire safety, health & safety, chemical handling and equipment storage and care.
- IT literacy/experience using the Microsoft suite of programs.
What you need to know
No two days will be the same in this role, you could be decorating a room or having to think outside the box to solve a technical issue for our customers that may jeopardise their safety. As part of our maintenance team your actions really make a difference to our service users.
Location – Isla Road, Perth, PH2 7HQ.
Hours – We have 2 posts available both 37 hours per week. (Vacancy 1) Monday-Thursday / 8am-4pm & Friday 8am-3.30pm . (Vacancy 2) Thursday – Monday / 8am-4pm with a 3.30pm finish on any day of this week (flexible). Candidates should be flexible to meet the needs of the service.
