Job description
You will drive up standards of education for vulnerable children Harrow, to improve their life chances and overall outcomes, identify which interventions are most effective in supporting the educational achievement of children in care and disseminate good practice, particularly in raising the level of awareness among schools, social work teams and carers about how to help children in care to enjoy and achieve in their formal education and in their life outside of school.
In addition, the post holder will work together with all relevant professionals to implement the Harrow Pledge and contribute to delivering relevant education plans.
- Knowledge of student monitoring and assessment
- Ability to analyse and utilise key data and research to promote the Virtual School as a centre of excellence and support school improvement.
- Excellent understanding of current education policy and performance issues for practitioners in schools.
- An understanding of financial processes and procedures, service level agreements and commissioning strategies which may be of relevance to the Virtual School.
- Experience of promoting student development and raising attainment through effective management and leadership.
- Significant experience of work in schools and education settings to raise attainment of individual pupils
- Ability to communicate effectively orally, and in writing, with a diverse range of internal and external audiences.
- Good ICT skills, including familiarity with monitoring and tracking systems, report writing and presentations.
- Ability to deal sensitively with people and resolve conflicts in the context of working in partnership with school leaders, governors, carers and the wider community; as well as pupils with challenging behaviour.
- The ability to travel across the local authority and more widely, as required, in order to meet the operational needs of the Service.
- QTS and evidence of continued professional development.
