Job title: Assistant Headteacher – SENCO/Curriculum (Maternity Cover)
Location: Armley Grange, Leeds, West Yorkshire
Salary: £41,000 per annum
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Contract: Fixed-Term; Term Time Only
Start Date; September 2023
This is a great opportunity to join Armley Grange, Part of Options Autism as an Assistant Headteacher – SENCO/Curriculum.
Job Purpose:
- Support the Head Teacher (and further SLT) in leading curriculum innovation and design appropriate for our cohorts and in line with the school vision
- Support in leading on the effective implementation of the curriculum
- Put provision in place to ensure that progress of pupils improves
- Ensure that the school carries out its statutory responsibilities regarding all students with an EHCP
- Ensure EHCP review meeting invites are sent to all relevant parties in good time (with support from Administrator)
- Ensure paperwork is completed for EHCP reviews
- Chair EHCP Review Meetings
- Support all staff in understanding the needs of SEN pupils
- Promote a culture and practices that enables all pupils to access the curriculum
- Support in monitoring progress of the pupils
- Establish and oversee Curriculum systems, processes and policies to ensure all pupils can access the curriculum
- Monitoring progress towards the achievement of the school’s aims and objectives
- Work with the SLT, MLT and teachers to ensure all pupils learning is of equal importance and that there are high and realistic expectations of pupils.

Armley Grange is a new specialist school for young people with complex communication needs, autism and associated learning and emotional needs. A specialist school equipped with the latest technology, sensory provision and specialist teaching spaces with the needs of the pupils in mind.
Armley Grange is a day school that caters for students from 5 years to 19 years old. A specialist curriculum will be provided blending specialist teaching around communication, sensory and behaviour approaches with aiming for each child to achieve their goals and aspirations and to reach their potential, equipping them to make their way in the world.
The aim of the site is to provide enough support to unlock each child’s potential so they can live fulfilling and productive lives. We provide young people with as much freedom as possible in a safe and supervised environment. This is achievable due to the dedication and support from a range of employed professionals who are passionate, reliable, and understanding.
