We are recruiting for an experienced Assistant General Manager to join our team at Thatcham. This is a new position designed to support the General Manager in the overall development, performance and maintenance of the site operational activities. As we strive to achieve the maximum efficiency, quality, service and profitability across our business.

Salary: Up to £70,000 (depending on experience) + car allowance and discretionary bonus
Hours: 37.5 a week
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, weekend working subject to business requirements.

As an Assistant General Manager (AGM) at Gist
You will be a key member of the site senior leadership team reporting directly to the General Manager, deputising where appropriate in their absence and overseeing all aspects of the site, its people and performance.
You will have primary accountability for the warehouse along with stock, systems and administration functions. You play a vital role in all commercial decisions to ensure the site delivers against the strategic objectives.
Analysing and measuring the operational performance, process outcomes and profitability to drive a best in class performance. Creating innovative solutions to ensure, continuous improvement and efficiency within the warehouse function through your people.
Accountable for building, leading and developing your team consisting of Warehouse Operation Manager and Shift Managers to ensure successful delivery of change management as well as commercial and service delivery KPI’s.

About You
- Experienced Senior leader ideally with a distribution background, food distribution is preferable but not essential
- Ability to demonstrate excellent commercial acumen and decision making skills
- Aspirational individual who is keen to learn and seek progression
- Proven experience of managing change, and delivering continuous improvement
- Forecasting and budget management capability
- Ability to develop excellent stakeholder relationships at all levels
- Strategically minded, ability to translate business objectives and deliver the necessary change
- Knowledge of and background in logistics/transport department would be beneficial
- Excellent influencing and communication skills
