As a business we are growing fast and we currently have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Floor Manager to join our Regent Street Flagship team. As our longest standing store Regent Street is at the heart of Hamleys with seven floors of pure magic and fun it really is the place to be!

Job Purpose Summary
To efficiently assist in the management of all aspects of the floor operations to achieve targeted sales, profitability and company objectives through the use of KPI targets and excellent customer service. To improve business performance and realise objectives through the effective management, leadership and development of the people in your team and to provide a deputising service to the Floor Manager assuming his/her responsibilities in their absence.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • To lead, motivate and develop your team to exceed sales and improve KPIs/customer service standards through effective performance management
  • To manage & develop all staff including the Supervisors
  • To monitor & question the current methods/styles of customer service and ensure its relevance to the evolving Hamleys customer experience
  • To ensure excellent customer service levels are promoted and maintained whilst the team consistently demonstrates full product knowledge
  • To achieve sales targets through effective KPI management & delivery
  • To regularly analyse sales performance, maximising strengths & reviewing poor performance to establish an action plan for improvement
  • To have an active involvement in recruiting and selecting the best people for the floor assisting with succession planning where required
  • To keep abreast of relevant training and development activities which could enhance and develop their own and the teams skills, knowledge and behaviours
  • To work with the Floor Manager to ensure clear and consistent usage of all training and development tools, utilising all resources and identifying improvements – feeding back to the Training & Development Manager as required
  • To identify product requirements and continually improve stock levels/mix through communication with the appropriate people and control of stock in store
  • To assist in ensuring in store delivery of product range and space management
  • To ensure timely communication of all product, promotion & merchandising information to the appropriate people
  • To provide a safe environment, ensuring Health and Safety guidelines are implemented and maintained to the highest standards at all times
  • To ensure security procedures are followed at all times combating all theft and shrinkage both internally and externally
  • To ensure product/merchandising measures and guidelines are being fully followed by the team, to maximum effect
  • To support and improve the VM standards throughout the floor, through training and development of the VM skills of the team

Specific Job Skills:

  • Numerate and articulate
  • At least 2 years experience of retail management
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • IT literate

  • Ability to communicate team members views to the Management team effectively
