A new permanent opportunity for an Assistant Finance Accountant is now available! Working Hybrid with 2 days a week in the amazing Hatfield Head offices and 3 days working from home!
You will be working in the Commercial Accounting team, As the Assistant Finance Accountant (AFA) you will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of the financial close activities and reporting financial results for their nominated mission area.
You will be undertaking of transactional processing activities (journals, allocations and reconciliations), preparation of monthly P&l (including variance analysis), Balance Sheet and other related reporting in line with group policies & practices. Plus business partnering with the wider finance teams and supporting various pros improvement projects and interim and year-end reporting and audits.
What else will you be doing?
- Performing and reporting on ongoing and monthly accounting transactional activities including journal and allocation processing; balance sheet reconciliation & review; period close accounting; and reporting on financial performance for nominated mission area(s
- Complying with group accounting policy & practices
- Submitting for review and approval of transactional postings to support closure of the financial books (journal postings/processing, adjustments, allocations and transfers)
- Substantiating account/general ledger balance reconciliations
- Working to the general ledger close / Period End close calendar timelines
- Support the Half Year and Year End close process, ensuring that audit queries are dealt with swiftly and appropriately and audit adjustments processed in a controlled manner in with guidelines
- Partnering closely with the relevant Commercial Finance teams, including understanding the budget/forecast for the relevant mission area(s) in detail and attending stakeholder meetings as and when required
- Providing level 1 commentary on designated management account lines as appropriate and attending stakeholder meetings as required
- Supporting country accounting activities to enable the effective running of operations and the inclusion of country results in the results of the group
- Raising issues with management and helping resolve them
- Proactively identifying problems and opportunities to standardise, streamline and improve processes and accuracy
- Produce adhoc reporting where required
- Provide the accurate numbers for all disclosures in the annual report and statutory accounts
- Ensure accounting policies set by the in-house technical team are implemented and adhered to
About you
You will be at least Part Qualified in your Accounting Studies (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent ) and have good understanding of relevant regulatory environments
- An understanding of core financial processes and relevant systems
- Awareness of accounting and reporting standards & principles
- Experience in a fast-paced global environment (desirable)
- Experience in delivering great customer / user experience (desirable)
- Experience in process improvement, automation (desirable)
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work closely with colleagues
- Ability to complete work to a high standard whilst identifying opportunities for further improvement
- Possess strong attention to detail; able to provide accurate and timely data/reporting Adaptability to change and positive mindset
- Ability to build trusted relationships
