Tupgill Park is a large privately owned estate in the heart of the Yorkshire dales. The Estate itself incorporates The Forbidden Corner which is a very large tourist attraction welcoming over 130,000 visitors a year in addition we have self-catering units, holiday cottages and The Saddle Room Restaurant with a Wedding venue called the Bell Barn.
Tupgill Park is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our award winning gardening team.
In recent years we have been the recipients of numerous accolades, these include being voted “Best Folly of the 20th century” by the Folly fellowship, and “Best family day out”, also awarded “Best Large Visitor Attraction” at Welcome to Yorkshire’s, White Rose Awards. Our Gardens have won gold at The Yorkshire in Bloom Awards in 2018 & 2019 sadly Covid struck and the awards were not run in 2020, so we were not able to complete our hat trick of awards, but did receive a certificate of recognition in 2020 from the Royal Horticultural society and Yorkshire in Bloom.
Personal attributes
To succeed in this role, you should be physically fit and able to manage small and potentially heavy machinery. The ideal candidate will be friendly, professional and possess in-depth knowledge of effective gardening techniques.
You must have the following skills:
· At least 2 years’ proven experience in gardening or Estate working.
· Ability to handle a range of nursery machinery and powered hand tools.
· In-depth knowledge of plants and gardening techniques.
· Friendly personality with excellent interpersonal skills.
· Solid understanding of health and safety rules and legislation.
· You will need a good understanding of plants, lawns, grounds maintenance, and have an eye for attention to detail with previous experiance.
· Having level 2 qualification in Horticulture or equivalent, is desirable.
· and a PA1 or PA6a spraying certificates is an advantage but not essential as training will be provided.
· We require minimum of 2 years’ experience, a driving license, and a strong team work ethic with willingness to learn new roles.

Assistant Gardener Skills and Requirements
· Maintain and grow the garden to ensure it meets specific requirements and expectations.
· Perform basic maintenance such as cutting the grass, emptying bins, managing weed control and leaf raking.
· Assist in the planting and nurture new trees, flowers, and various plants with basic knowledge.
· Work with hand tools and basic light machinery such as plant vehicles, and small diggers under the direction of the Head Gardener.
· Maintain a clean garden by clearing rubbish and litter from the garden and grounds.
· Provide guidance alongside the Head Gardener to management on matters related to the garden.
· Provide guidance alongside the Head Gardener to advise management on the costs of plants and garden necessities with detailed written quotations and reports.
· Ensure a safe environment for staff and customers by adhering to safety and health regulations.
· Ability to handle a range of nursery machinery and powered hand tools.
· knowledge of plants and gardening techniques.
· Friendly personality with excellent interpersonal skills.
