PinkNews is hiring for an Assistant Entertainment Editor to take a pivotal role in our multimedia content team, shaping narratives that resonate with a diverse and inclusive global audience of millions across multiple platforms.

You’ll report directly to the Entertainment Editor and assist with managing and subbing the daily output of a small team of reporters. You will work closely with the video and social teams to collaborate on and craft exceptional entertainment content that attracts new audiences. This role requires deep knowledge of the entertainment industry, experience in junket and event coverage, and a passion for LGBTQ+ issues and culture.
Location: Hybrid working - London office 2 days per week
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 DOE
Working Hours: You will work at 37.5 hour week, to include 1 in 2 weekends and shift work
What you’ll be doing day to day:
- Assisting the Entertainment Editor in managing daily entertainment content operations- including the rota of permanent team members and freelance cover.
- Collaborating with the wider editorial and video content teams to brainstorm, plan and execute multimedia content that resonates with our readers.
- Writing, editing, and proofreading engaging articles, interviews, reviews, and features focused on LGBTQ+ entertainment.
- Attending industry events, junkets, premieres, and festivals to gather content and build relationships with key players in the industry.
- Collaborating with the wider editorial team to plan and execute multimedia content such as videos, podcasts, and live social media coverage.
- Managing relationships with contributors, freelancers, and PR professionals.
- Keeping abreast of entertainment trends, news, and emerging LGBTQ+ talent.
- Upholding the highest journalistic standards of integrity and ethics.
- Assisting with social media and SEO strategies.
Skills you’ll need:
- Previous experience in entertainment journalism, ideally with a focus on LGBTQ+ content.
- Prior experience covering junkets, film festivals, premieres and other entertainment events.
- Exceptional writing, editing and sub editing skills, with the ability to write clear, concise and compelling copy for a range of audiences.
- Extensive knowledge of entertainment industry trends and the ability to use this information to engage our audience.
- Proficiency with content management systems, SEO, and social media platforms.
- An ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced news environment
- A commitment to accuracy, impartiality and ethical journalism
- Strong knowledge of social media and digital journalism tools, and a willingness to experiment with new formats and approaches
- Willingness to travel when required to cover stories
- Exceptional relationship building skills with the ability to network effectively within the entertainment industry.
PinkNews is a global media brand and so any additional language skills would be highly beneficial. Knowledge of video and how to tell an engaging news story visually is highly desirable, as are shooting and editing skills.
