Contract: full time, 12 month fixed term (potential to extend depending on continuation of funding)
Salary: £30,694- £34,448 (Pay review pending)

Walsall Educational Psychology Service is a creative and extremely supportive service looking to recruit Assistant Educational Psychologists (AEPs) to expand our existing team and contribute to the exciting development of the service.

Walsall EPS are working with the NHS to deliver the Mental Health Support Teams programme across Walsall schools. As an AEP you will be required to assist schools implement a Whole School Approach (WSA) to supporting the well-being and mental health of the school community. Tasks will include working alongside senior colleagues to support schools audit current practice, identify next actions to take, support implementation of change, and evaluate outcomes. We will be using the Sandwell Well-Being Charter Mark to support schools with their WSA.

In addition, you will have opportunities to work with qualified educational psychologists in a number of other areas of practice, including supporting casework in schools, training, research, delivering projects and interventions.

  • You will require an undergraduate psychology degree (2:1 or above) or qualification that confers eligibility for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society.
  • You will also need some experience of having worked with children or young people in educational or other settings and used opportunities to have applied psychology.
  • We expect applicants to be interested in working towards entry to the professional training in educational psychology courses and be able to demonstrate this through their previous roles, experiences, and/or additional study/CPD
  • You will need to be highly motivated with excellent self-organisational and self-management skills.

Walsall EPS is situated within the SEND and Inclusion Service with strong links within the wider Access and Inclusion Service, including Early Years, and Virtual School, as well as health and social care colleagues. Agile working allows for flexibility, but our office base is accessed frequently by the team providing opportunities for peer supervision and support.
